Getting Started
MediaRelay lets you transfer selected photos, videos, audio, and documents between your device and another device on the same Wi-Fi network. Select files in the app, tap Share, then open the local transfer link or scan the QR code from another device.
No account is required. No cloud upload is required. Transfers happen directly over your local network.
Basic Setup
- Connect your device and the other device to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open MediaRelay.
- Select photos, videos, audio, or documents.
- Tap Share to open your transfer link and QR code.
- On the other device, open the displayed local address in a browser or scan the QR code.
- Download the selected files from the browser page.
Receiving Files
MediaRelay Pro can receive files from another device through the local browser page.
- Open MediaRelay.
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Enable Allow Uploads.
- Tap Share.
- Open the transfer link in a browser on the other device.
- Use the upload area on the browser page to send files back to your device.
If the Transfer Link Does Not Open
- Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Make sure MediaRelay is open while transferring.
- Do not use mobile data only; the browser device must be on the same local network.
- Avoid guest Wi-Fi networks, VPNs, or networks that block local device access.
- Check that Local Network permission is allowed for MediaRelay in system settings.
- Try closing and reopening the app, then tap Share again.
- If your router has client isolation enabled, local device-to-device transfer may be blocked.
Some browsers may show “Not Secure” for the local address. This is expected because MediaRelay uses a local HTTP address on your private Wi-Fi network.
Supported Files
MediaRelay supports photos, videos, audio files, and documents that can be selected from the app or imported from the system file picker.
- Photos and videos can be selected from the photo picker.
- Audio and documents can be selected from the file picker.
- HEIC to JPEG conversion can be enabled in Settings for better compatibility.
- Very large transfers may require Pro depending on the current app limits.
Passcode Protection
You can enable optional passcode protection for the local browser page.
- Open Settings in MediaRelay.
- Enable Protect with Passcode.
- Set a 4-digit passcode.
- Share the passcode only with people you want to access the local transfer page.
Subscriptions and Restore Purchases
MediaRelay Pro unlocks Pro features such as unlimited transfers, receiving files from other devices, larger transfers, and advanced receive options. Purchases are handled through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
If you already purchased Pro, open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases.
